The Discoverability axis contributes to the reflection on cultural discoverability with the publication of the article “Pour une (re)définition de la découvrabilité : enjeux, défis et nouvelles perspectives au prisme de la musique” in the Revue internationale des francophonies.
Authored by Romuald Jamet (INRS, co-researcher in the Discoverability axis), Guillaume Blum (ÉTS, axis head), and Sacha Siary (ÉTS, research professional), this article is part of a special issue coordinated by Caroline Marcoux-Gendron and Hela Zahar.
The article explores:
- A transdisciplinary approach to discoverability that goes beyond the technological lens.
- An analysis of socio-economic, political, and identity issues related to the Francophonie, from Quebec to the international stage.
- Reflections on contemporary challenges: visibility inequalities, the ecological costs of digital technologies, the rise of AI, and the need for responsible governance.
- A renewed definition of discoverability, integrating social, cultural, economic, and ecological dimensions.
Drawing on discussions from the École d’été sur l’écosystème musical québécois et la découvrabilité culturelle (Quebec, 2024), this article highlights the vitality of collaborative research on discoverability.
