Launch of an essay by Les Presses de l’Université Laval

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the launch of the essay “Nous sommes tous des astronautes : scénarios et prototypes pour des temps extrêmes. Complément 2 : essais sur la réalité et le virtuel”, published by Les Presses de l’Université Laval, will take place at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montréal.

This collection of scientific essays, written in an accessible and original style, brings together five researchers, artists, philosophers, and professors in the fields of art, game design, and architecture who came together to reflect on virtual reality. Their surprising and fruitful discussions are published in the form of a short 76-page booklet that is both inspiring and thought-provoking.

Researcher-creator and Header of the Digital Creativity Axis, Laureline Chiapello, notably contributes a text on “the Vercors hallucination,” a very particular phenomenon she has experienced many times. It involves seeing mountains on the horizon when in fact there are only clouds or shadows in the sky. While this can be explained by the fact that she grew up in the heart of the Alps, the effect remains striking and invites reflection on the differences between hallucination, immersion, and reality.

This event is part of the collective launch of several titles in the Phosphore collection by Les Presses de l’Université Laval. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet the authors, engage in discussions on themes of virtuality, perception, and creation, and celebrate these new publications.
