For this axis, the research in the creative economy recognizes the importance of cultural and geographic diversity in economic and social development.

It explores the specific dynamics of creative industries in regions, highlighting local resources, cultural traditions and community initiatives.

The axis focusses on the creative spirit of individuals who often have to deal with more limited resources. It also aims to strengthen regional cultural ecosystems, foster social inclusion and promote local talent at provincial, national and international levels.

> ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the competition, interested individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Be a 2nd or 3rd cycle student. Students must be enrolled in research (i.e. have completed their courses);
  
• Research project (thesis or dissertation) on regional culture or art (outside Montreal and Quebec City);
  
• Be under the supervision of a research director who is a member of CREAT’s Culture en regions Axis;
  
• Be a CREAT student member (membership applications can be submitted at the time of application).

> APPLICATION PACKAGE

• Presentation of academic and professional background and link to research project (500 words);
  
• Problem statement (500 words);
  
• Research methodology (500 words);
  
• Academic CV in PDF format (maximum 2 pages);
  
• Most recent academic transcript and transcript of previous studies (uncertified copies accepted).

> Evaluation

Applications will be evaluated by the Axis Committee. Results will be communicated by email on March 17, 2025.

Evaluation criteria are as follows (note / 20):

• Research project presented (issues and methodology) (/5);
• Regional particularities highlighted (/5);
• Issues related to arts and culture (/5);
• Excellence of the application (/5).

> ELIGIBILITY

The program is aimed to students in their 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd cycles who are conducting research on culture in the regions.

> APPLICATION PACKAGE

1. A letter of request indicating:
   • The nature, date, and location of the relevant conference;
   • The subject of the presentation, co-presenters (if any), and the connection to culture in the regions;
   • Grants or financial aid already obtained for the same conference;
   • The requested amount;
2. An official letter confirming participation in the specified conference;
3. A document from the organizers providing key information about the conference (nature, program, etc.);
4. A travel budget, including a list of all expenses incurred and all revenues.

> Evaluation

Reimbursement of eligible expenses up to $1,000.

• Accommodation expenses (for the duration of the conference and an additional day);
• Transportation expenses;
• Conference registration fees.

Additionally, a per diem of $62 per day for meal expenses ($14 for breakfast, $20 for lunch, $28 for dinner) is provided.

The Axis’s financial year begins in April. If the presentation is given jointly with a professor, they must contribute equally with their research funds.
