“Tasiujaq 93, an Arctic Symphony”

Climate change is reshaping Arctic territories and their landscapes. For Simon Chioini, these changes carry a personal resonance. He used real data on ice melt to create musical compositions that reflect these transformations.

In this project, he collaborated with Jean-Michaël Lavoie and the musicians of the Université de Montréal’s Contemporary Music Ensemble to give form to this data. Through contemporary artistic creation, he makes the effects of climate change audible and offers a new way of listening to—and feeling—the North.
