Research Axes

The Research Chair in the creative economy and well-being (CREAT) connects 4 research areas.

Culture in the regions

The main objective of this axis is to promote and foster research and creative and cultural initiatives in the regions, i.e. outside the major urban centres.

Arts and Health

Encourage and undertake research, training and knowledge-transfer initiatives to better understand the relationship between arts, culture and health.

Digital Creativity

Identify crucial issues within the digital creative industries to foster research, training and development in this sector.

Discoverability

Contribute to understanding the dynamics behind discoverability issues, disseminate knowledge on the subject and propose modes of action based on research.

Understanding the challenges of discoverability to make music accessible

At the intersection of migration trajectories and Québec’s cultural ecosystems, this episode explores the priorities that should guide efforts around discoverability. Caroline Marcoux-Gendron, Affiliated Professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal, and Romuald Jamet, Associate Professor at INRS, discuss the distinctive features of Québec’s music landscape: its linguistic, institutional, and cultural dynamics, as well as the recognition biases that affect, among others, artists from immigrant backgrounds.
